Serve Together

PROJECT KIDS EAT

Project Kids Eat began in 2000 when we became aware of children living in extended stay hotels not having access to nutritious meals in the summer months when school is no longer in session. We deliver food and other necessities to local extended stay hotels and 2 apartment complexes with the help of business partners and nearby churches.

We love partnering with people and organizations to be able to more fully support the families in our Norcross Community.   Partnering can look differently depending on you - can you come and volunteer to help?  Or are you part of an organization who would like to collect needed items for the families?  Maybe you or your company would like to contribute financially?  This year we enjoyed partnerships with the following organizations:

• Sage Dining Services provided 5,231 discounted meals for the children

• Gwinnett County provided 4,792 Weekend Meals

• Greater Atlanta Christian School provided about 50 essential items bags, toilet paper, and treat bags

• Salvation Army provided meals to the families living at 3 of the hotels we serve

• Perimeter Church’s Rush Students donated activity packs to give the kids something to do over the summer, assembled and donated 60 essential kits, and helped with several other projects

• Parkview Christian Academy donated activity packs to give the kids something to do over the summer

• Bambinelli’s delivered 1,342 yummy pasta meals to us this summer at a great price

• We were able to work with SPARC's (Single Parent Alliance and Resource Center at Bradford Apartments) summer program and The Breck Apartment complex to provide 2,093 meals for children

• Building Babies Brains provided 300 literacy Kits for beginning readers

• We partnered with Proximit Gap Network, Perimeter Church, Christ Church Episcopal, and Generations Church to add a new hotel

• 514 Volunteer Spots were filled

• We delivered 118 Essentials bags to the families to prepare them to go back to school

• We received grants from The Thumann Foundation and The Shumard Foundation
